Internet of Farming: Arduino-based, backyard aquaponics

I've been looking into aquaponics lately, and am looking to do SOMETHING and found this.

I've found quite a few people on Craigslist that are giving away old fiberglass boat hulls. I think with some work, that would be better than the $120-150 that most people are asking for the 275 gallon totes these days.
